What is HCG?
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is a peptide hormone produced during pregnancy by the placenta. HCG performs several important functions. It maintains progesterone production after 12 weeks of fetal development. It is also speculated that this hormone affects immune tolerance which is critical for pregnancy. Lastly, HCG is believed to play an important role in providing a constant reservoir of nutrition and energy to the growing fetus.
HCG while produced in large amounts during pregnancy (mothers will produce in excess of 1,000,000 units per day) is also found in trace amounts in both men and women. In medicine, we use HCG in infertility with IVF cycles to stimulate the mother to make multiple follicles or eggs for harvesting. It is also used in men with testosterone deficiency to stimulate the testicles to make more testosterone.
How does it work?

Some believe HCG appears to act on the hypothalamus gland, signaling to release stored fat into the bloodstream where it is then available to be used by the cells for nourishment. Alone, it will not cause weight loss; you need to reduce your food intake. This forces the body to use the mobilized fat from the bloodstream. HCG causes the release of abnormal fat without affecting structural fat and muscle tissue.
What is VLCD?
VLCD stands for very low calorie diet and is used by the medical community for weight loss and the treatment of obesity. It has many advantages and gives rapid and encouraging weight loss. The HCG weight loss program is a very low calorie diet. VLCDs also contain the recommended daily requirements for vitamins, minerals, trace elements, fatty acids and protein. Carbohydrate may be entirely absent, or substituted for a portion of the protein; this choice has important metabolic effects. We feel it is medically necessary to have more protein than other popular HCG programs.
Why use HCG, wouldn’t I lose the same amount doing the diet alone?

I’ve read elsewhere that HCG corrects the metabolism and the hypothalamus. What is the hypothalamus and is this true?
The hypothalamus is the control center of the brain. It is known to control certain body processes such as hunger/appetite, thirst, sex drive and temperature. There is research that there is a possible connection with HCG therapy and a noted ‘re-setting’ of your hypothalamus and metabolism. Following treatment patients note that their appetite has drastically decreased and eating reasonable portions is easy.
Who can use the HCG diet?
Please only use HCG under the medical supervision of a licensed professional. Each patient has unique circumstances and will need monitoring.
How much weight can I expect to lose on the HCG Diet?

Why fat load the first 2 days?
It is essential to load with fatty foods two days prior to starting the diet. If you don’t fat load properly, your body will pull from structural fat and muscle tissue and make the first week very uncomfortable. Do not worry, you will lose any additional weight gained during fat loading very quickly – so please FAT LOAD!
Why so much water?
Water is essential to this program. Dehydration slows the metabolism, and most of us are chronically dehydrated. Burning calories requires an adequate supply of water to function efficiently.

Do I have to drink the tea?
Yes, please do. We believe there are several benefits to drinking the exclusive teas. First, a hot cup of tea is thought to be therapeutic and calming, also making your belly feel full. Some find it as use for behavior modification; instead of making a snack, make a cup of tea. There are several different blends of tea specifically chosen for metabolism support. Herbal teas are also known to have high amounts of the antioxidant polyphenol.
Do I have to finish all the food allotted for the day?
It is a good idea to eat the foods allotted for the day. You will not lose more weight by skipping a portion, and that may lead to frustration.

What if I have to eat out?
It is recommended that you make your own food the majority of the time to maximize weight loss, however, there are circumstances where you can’t get around this. Here are a couple hinters when eating at restaurants:
- Ask for grilled meat (preferably chicken).
- Make specific, detailed special requests to prepare food without oil, butter, sugars, marinades, etc.
- Eating the meat on top of a bed of lettuce or spinach is also recommended.
- Ask for a lemon slice to add flavor.
Where is your HCG manufactured?
21 Amazing Days has established a supply fulfillment relationship with reputable US pharmacies. It is a trusted source of HCG. Some people are purchasing HCG from internet pharmacies illegally without a prescription. The HCG they are purchasing through these pharmacies is usually coming from China and/or India. Though the HCG from China or India is very cheap this HCG could be contaminated and should not be trusted.
Can I continue the program for longer than 6 weeks?
In our experience, patients become immune to the HCG after 6 weeks of treatment. We require a 6 week break from the use of the HCG medication.
Will I keep the weight off?
After the HCG diet, you will find your appetite and eating behavior has changed. It is our hope that you have felt the benefits of feeding your body nutritious foods and have the desire to continue some of these habits. Follow through with the Phase III and IV, remaining especially strict for those first three weeks. You will not have to continue with meal plans, shakes, bars, etc., to keep the weight off. Eat according to your appetite, eat only until satisfied and not over-stuffed and enjoy a variety of foods. Pay attention to your weight and always abide by the steak day rule and you may keep the weight off!
Will my metabolism slow down if I’m on a very low calorie diet?
Ordinarily, when there is a reduction in calories, our bodies store fat and our metabolism adjusts to the deficit. However, when a very low calorie diet is used with the HCG, the hormone signals the body to use stored fat for energy, and eliminates excess fat reserves, so there is no theoretic determent to the metabolism.
Can I have this instead of that?
No, if it is not listed as a permitted item, please do not experiment. It is a waste of time and money. Commit to the program and like thousands of others, you will be pleased.
